Steel Fall 3-0 in Home Opener
(Chippewa Falls, WI)- Tonight the Chippewa Steel opened their season against the Kenai River Brown Bears at the Chippewa Area Ice Arena.
Both teams would come out hot setting up for a fast-paced game. The first period would see equal pressure from both teams as they would battle for every inch of ice. Despite the strong efforts of both teams, the score would stay tied at zero with the Steel posting 11 shots, and the Brown Bears 10 shots.
In the second period the Steel would put on the pressure and bring their shot total to 36 but could not find the back of the net. Kenai River would score the only goal of the period at 5:38 of the second. Following the goal each team would have two powerplay chances but neither capitalized.
The Steel pushed back in the third, but it would not be enough as Kenai River would tally twice. Kenai River scored with 1:42 left in the game and then again on an empty net goal.
