Steel Set for 3-Game Series vs Fairbanks
After a series sweep vs the Kenai River Brown Bears the Steel are looking to take that momentum into their 3-game series with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Chippewa and Fairbanks split a series the last time they faced each other back on December 28th and 29th in Chippewa Falls. To date, Fairbanks leads the season series four games to three.
The Ice Dogs currently sit in the 2nd place position in the Midwest division. Their top two skaters are Minnesota natives Jonathan Sorenson with 34 points, and Jax Murray with 30 points. They are coming off a split weekend with the Springfield Jr Blues.
Forwards Camden Thiesing and Killian Kiecker Olson lead the team with 19 points each. Igor Samokhvalov has been a wall in goal for the Steel and holds a 3-0 record since being placed in goal on December 29 against Fairbanks. He stopped 31 of 32 shots that evening and has stopped 93 of 96 shots during the current 3-game winning streak.
