The Chippewa Steel looked to get back to their winning ways on Saturday night as they took on the Minnesota Magicians to finish out their weekend series.
The Magicians jumped in front in the first period with a goal scored by Josh Bohlin, his fifth goal of the season. The Steel responded less than a minute later as Matthew Berezowski scored on the power play to notch the score at 1. Minnesota answered at the 17:59 mark to take a 2-1 advantage into the first intermission.
The second period proved to be all Chippewa on Saturday evening has they were able to tie the game with an Isaac Moberg unassisted goal just over halfway through the period. Connor Szmul took over and scored his team-leading 16th and 17th goals of the season to stretch the Steel lead to 4-2. Connor McGrath later added his first goal in a Steel uniform, assisted by Grisha Gotovets and Isaac Moberg.
Chippewa wrapped up the scoring with a third-period goal recorded by Jake Vaughan, his second of the weekend series to make it a 6-2 victory to earn a weekend series split against their Midwest Division opponent. Chippewa wraps up the long stretch of 6 of their last 7 games with the Magicians. They end up going 4-2 in those 6 games versus Minnesota.
